Ottawa

Ottawa is a beautiful place.

With some stunning architecture.

And a really cool candy store. We met a lion or two.
Chipmunk 1#Byward Market was lots of fun. Very tasty
At the museum we saw....

Man! this museum has a funky ceiling.
At the National gallery we saw.... a number of paintings by famous painters.
Sadly many of my pics are blurry.

Upper Canada Village was amazing!

Chipmunk 2# at Gatineau Park.

The science and technology museum was okay.

Breakfast faces

We have been having high fibre muffins for breakfast on a fairly regular [ha ha] basis these days. Check out these faces:

Happy Face and Monkey Face! Now those are mugs that are worth waking up for.

A fun little bag

I have been feeling a little crafty lately. The pattern for this bag is from Bend-The-Rules Sewing by Amy Karol.

I started it yesterday and finished it this afternoon. I like the sense of accomplishment I am feeling just now so I'm showing you the final product.

An Inspiring Quote

This past week I have been reading Mrs. Miniver (by Jan Struther) and enjoying her musings about the world around her immensely. I was inspired to read it by Jane Brocket from Yarnstorm who mentioned in her book The Gentle Art of Domesticity that it was a good read. There are a number of great quotes throughout the book but this is the one that jumped out at me today:

"......it oughtn't to need a war to make us talk to each other in buses, and invent our own amusements in the evenings, and live simply, and eat sparingly, and recover the use of our legs, and get up early enough to see the sun rise."

All things that I want more of in my life.

Something Hit A Cord With Me

How do you know when something will resonate so deeply within you that the tears will flow and hope will well up from deep down inside? I guess sometimes we don't.......we are just pleasantly surprised. That's how it was for me on Saturday night. The kids and I rented a movie while my Honey and my brother-in-law went to a hockey game. When the movie started, I was sitting there with my knitting (hoping to get slippers made for my sister's birthday) but as it progressed I chose to set the needles aside to hear (and see) the tidbits of wisdom scattered throughout the show. The movie was "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium". Now those of you who have seen this movie might be wondering how it could have such an effect on me, but it really did. I think it was a small gift from my Friend to encourage me to keep dreaming and searching and growing and living and loving and playing.
